Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri jaan.....

Mumbai was always famous for its cosmopolitan nature / attitude, but apparently this is not true, the recent violence against the people from UP and Bihar in the financial capital is a bitter truth. What exactly is behind this? well the first reaction would obviously be Politics and vote bank, but why does a petty leader like Raj Thakrey has the guts to do this , maybe this is somewhere amongst the basic Mumbaikar that the people from UP and Bihar are stealing away their opportunities. Right from our birth we Indians are prone to spoon feeding (to be read as reservations). The killer instinct is never developed in us. what is the problem in a person coming from a specific state and working there, and please I am not writing this post as I belong to UP, I would have written this if the violence was against a Gujju or some other sect. Yes coming to the original point, if there is a problem then there is a legal way of doing it, come into power, pass a law and make work permit mandatory to work in Mumbai / Mahrashtra.

We are talking about global outlook, that is the need of the hour to make India a better place, socially and economically, but if we cant think nationally, then I guess global is too big a word. But if you give it a second thought, what was the need for Smajwadi party to celebrate UP Diwas in Mumbai, doesnt it sound wierd? I dont know where this caste / region based politics is going to take us?

There was a poll conducted recently and almost 70% of Maharashtrians agreed with Raj Thakrey so I guess you are right that somewhere the people (Mumbaikars in this case) agree with it

I completely agree with u.. why even a work permit specifically for Mumbai?? isnt it the city of opportunities?? also its like kisi mein kide kam nahi hai.. ek party kuch kahe toh dusri party is jst waiting to pounce on it.. and the above dude..yeah another survey conducted by cnn-ibn had 60% "MUMBAIKARS" note the word..NOT maharashtrians in specific voted for north Indians to be out of Mumbai..then why even other state people yaar?? ban everyone from Mumbai except Maharashtrians na! its logical.. but they ignore the fact that these are the same "outer" state people who have adopted the Marathi language and festivals as theirs to become a part of "Maharashtra"..when u ask a Mumbaikar who are u? the answer is A MUMBAIKAR not a Gujju/Bihari from Mumbai! they are ready to speak in Marathi to pataofy a pandu.. now one may say to adopt is human nature,but to change is different boss!! neways, I realised its completely a political gimmick!some of the offenders have atleast been arrested.. what to we say dude!! bottomline Raj Thackerey must have gained a marathi vote but has lost the vote of a "Mumbaikar"..

The answer is, nowhere. Sadly the last two decades have seen both economic liberalism and cultural bigotism and narrow minded ness grow exponentially in our country. Politics is extremely divisive, and the average indian seems to have fallen prey to caste=religion-community attractive forces. I pray.

@Metallica Bhakt!

This is all a hoax, and when the local janta would realize this, it would be too late

@Pheonix
Yeah but I am still optimistic that maybe the next general elections there is a better voter turnout, so that we can have a more sensible government
