Ideal running weight

This post is inspired from Bhasker’s post

I have been trying to reduce my weight since a long time, have been trying a lot of hard training different type of Diets etc but for some reason it is more or less constant on 75KG, might be ideal for me, but its definitely not ideal for the runner in me.

The main reason for that I guess is after a long run I tend to eat a lot, then as Bhasker says I often succumb to temptation, but since a last few days with cycling to work and running both being in place my weight decreased, for the first time in 2 years I saw the needle go below 74KG, but then the ITB surfaced up and its back to 75 (Damn!!!). But I have got the mantra now, since I didn’t experience any ITB pain after the run this weekend, so I have again started biking to work, and hope to shed a couple of pounds before the sunfeast 10K

Running / Cycling and more....

The Kanakpura Road trail / Track never lets me down. I remember this was the place where I did my comeback run after the injury / ghar / grahasti / travelling etc . Since the last three weeks ITB was troubling me a lot, was infact grounded for full 2 weeks because of the irritating ITB pain, now the bad part about these type of pains is that, it doesn't surface up in 5-7 KM, you would start experiencing it only after 10-12 KM. So even if I would have done my weekday short runs I wouldn't have known that the ITB is still there or gone, but in that process I would have made it worse by still exerting and stressing out. Took a lot of advices, and finally decided to stay indoors / grounded and continue with the stretching and icing.

So the scene was this sunday biwi was running at the Kanakpura Road location, and she was doing a 10+ KM run and that too at 8 am in the morning, in order to be ready of the killing heat that is going to hit you in the Sunfeast 10K. Me and Prateek decided to support them and run with them, the previous day I did a 20Km long run in cubbon and there was a little discomfort in the hips and hamstring. I was very tensed , I have seen how ITB damages the tempo of good runners, but to my surprise and happiness I did a smooth 12K at Kanakpura road on Sunday, now I must tell you that this is one of the toughest tracks in Bangalore, and that too in the heat. After the run I took a cold water bath, but I guess the mistake I did was I drank less water, I can see the after effects of the run the entire day.
