Run at the Speed of Chat

This punch line is really catchy and specially when this is being used to promote a site which is purely on running, I am talking about the site goruneasy.com. This is a site by Reebok and is quite impressive I must say, most of you must have seen the advertisement being aired on the popular channels these days.

Well now what you can do here, as far as the Indian perspective goes there are not many users from the Country, but yes you can share your favorite runs, (snaps, accounts etc.) . You can make groups and start to mingle with people , I guess this is also a kind of social networking site, well the theme this time is running.

So runners go and register on this cool new site and start sharing your running experiences!!

Bangalore Midnight Marathon : 19th May 2007

So I am back with my account of the Bangalore Midnight Marathon. Supposedly this was the world's first Midnight Marathon, but I cant relate with the concept of running all night, however there is no second thought to it that we had a gala time there! I guess the organizers went for the Midnight Marathon because it is too hot during the day, and moreover in a place like Bangalore it would be a Herculean task to block the roads during the day even on weekends.

We reached at around 11:00 pm , the place a a little mismanaged as we went to ITPL for the first time and we had really a hard time finding the I-Gate office, this was the place the Marathon was supposed to start from. The Celebration run (5.5 KMs) was over in the evening itself. I was running the half Marathon, last time we ran the celebration run, so this time we were like graduating for the half Marathon.

There were 4 laps, each lap of around 5 KMs, I ran about 13 KMs continuously, and then I took a brisk walk for about 600 Mts and then again started running but the last 1.5 laps were really tough for me, but I am glad that I completed 21 KMs. It wasn't boring at all, well for entertainment I had my Ipod, our gang with Nitin, Vaibhav, Rajaram, and above all were the people running next to you, it was fun talking to them getting to know so many people, from different walks of life. I completed 21 KMs in about 3 Hrs so I had plenty of time to talk to the other people who by the 4th lap were all struggling to complete the lap, as the people who were more comfortable with 21 KMs had already completed in about 2 Hrs 20-25 Minutes.

The arrangement of water was very good I guess we had stalls for water at every 500 Mts, there were some people who turned up to cheer thei9r friends. Oh I forgot to mention , I saw the Kannada actress Ramya, well we were not able to recognize her as she was looking too ordinary, and frankly speaking some of the girls running the marathon had a lot of potential caliber in the film industry than Ramya, but she kicked started the full Marathon (42 KMs) and then I dont know where she disappeared!

It was a great experience, would like to run the next half marathon whenever it is organized, and would concentrate in improving my time!

My experiences with "Running"

Lately I have discovered a new passion.....Running. Some days back I met a couple of people who were into distance running and they always used to fascinate me for some reason, it all started with losing weight, there was a time when I couldn't run 200 mts at a stretch, but then one fine day I thought that I would test my upper limit, and that particular day I was successful in completing 1 KM. For several days later my target was to complete 1 KM daily, maybe this was the time I built my stamina.

after about 3 months of running 1 KM daily I pampered myself, bought the whole new kit, good running shoes, new running T-Shirt, and the new dry fit running shorts, I still dont know what happened that day I discovered my new stamina! I ran and ran...and in half an hour I completed 4 KM. I was gaining confidence in myself that maybe I too can join the esteemed club of "runners". That was the day I never looked back I run for approximately 8 KM daily, and believe me it is not at all tough for me now. I guess the key to a good runner is actually finding out your right pace, the speed at which you can run for hours , it depends on your height weight! For finding out the same I recommend that try running on the treadmill in the beginning just to find out your right pace, your heart rate should not go over 165 / minute. I guess the minute it shoots over it slow down and start walking.

There was a time when my heart beat rate used to shoot up to 210 / minute, in just 500 mts, but I think once you start building the stamina it fades away. The second passionate thing that I discovered about running is that it is pretty entertaining, you can see the people crossing by, the dogs barking (please take special caution from these creatures if you are running in the night), the trees, the new hoardings, or if you don't want to do any of such thing then you can always sort out your daily problems, as this is the time when you are totally on your own.

As far I am concerned....since I love listening to music, I stick to my favourite collection of Music in my Ipod, and then I think.....about just anything! By the way the type of music you are listening to affects your running a lot, at least it does for me, whenever a fast track come my speed tends to become faster...... Oh I forgot to mention about good running shoes, plaese be over cautious in selecting the running shoes, as if the shoes are not proper it can lead to any serious injury.

So Guys will continue to pen down my experiences in running!!! Looking forward to the Midnight Marathon in Bangalore

Chakpak : Your Bollywood Adda !!!!!

Today I am going to talk about a new website http://www.chakpak.com, well whats it about?? This is a theme based social networking site, the theme is Bollywood, yes this site is for the movie buffs!! People can write reviews, discuss about their favorite movies, download wallpapers, now this is the part I like the most, the best part in the wallpapers section is that you can customize the wallpaper of your favorite actor / actress according to your machine's resolution, there are options for:

1024x768 800x600 1280x800 1280x1024

This site has has been there in the scene since quite some time but recently a social networking feature has also been incorporated, now this is one more thing I like, I can make friends depending on their likes and dislikes of movies. The chakpak team has changed the UI completely, I love the new one, well Blue is my favorite color too. I liked their color selection a lot as it is rich which suits the bollywood theme, and then on the other hand since they have used colors like Blue so I don't find it irritating for my eyes.

There is also some fun stuff on the site like:

1) Discussions (this has been pretty hot feature and people have discussed things like movie stories to Abhi Ash marriage)

2) Quiz ( a quiz based on movie)

3) Videos (You can watch whole movies, or just your favourite songs or sceenes!!)

4) Create a Quiz (if you think that you are a Movie buff and you can Bowl over other people by your movie gyaan, you can create a quiz!)

Oh I forgot to mention about the videos on this site. Chakpak has quite a lot of videos on movies, all you have to do is just go to the movie and you can find popular scenes, songs or the whole movie itself, it was a big time pass for me in my vellad hours!! Well this was an information of what you can do for timepass on this site, now talking about what you can do regularly here:

1) Read news (news related to movies only)
2) Make friends (Social Networking)
3) chat on scraps
4) Now the most important part, on Saturdays you can check out the movie reviews of any Bollywood newly released movie, I mean to say they are already posted by some of the users, so atleast it helps you in not wasting your precious time on sick movies, and believe me the reviews are genuine

So guys go check out this site! register there and invite your friends

Spider Man 3

Saw Spider man 3 yesterday, well the initial response to the movie was "why is spiderman so emotional in this movie" He keeps crying for some reason or the other, MJ, Uncle Ben or his inner vices! The graphics are superb, but there are only 2-3 hardcore actions sequences, I think there could have been more. Since this is a superhero movie , so you want to see a lot of action, and just doesn't want to see the superhero crying for some reason.

I think spider man's enemies were created for no reason, or rather I should say they were created just because there should be some enemies!!! And then probably in the end there are too many enemies all trying to kill spiderman, then the Director does a "Yarana" or "Bollywood" act, in the last action sequence Harry Osborne and Peter Parker are fighting the enemies together.

Overall an ok-ish movie, maybe worth a watch

The Indian Power Car: Ambassador

Today I Saw this awesome snap of Ambassador, and then read the news about the strike in the Hundustan Motor's only functional factory in India. Yes you guessed it right the factory is in West Bengal, and maybe because of that there is a strike or vice versa!!

The Ambassador — a Spartan, boxy sedan that for decades was ubiquitous on Indian roads. The car was introduced 50 years back in 1957 as an Indian-made version of the British Morris Oxford. Since then it has been around 50 Years and this car went on to become the identity of Indian Politicians and government servants. The government protected its market with steep import tariffs. The Ambassador no doubt made it a symbol of India.

During childhood I think everybody must be having good memories of this Fat Duck (as it is popularly known in London) , travelling in Ambassador during the vacations! Later on to compete with the influx of the superior foreign cars, Hindustan Motors introduced Ambassador Grand with an 1800 cc ISUZU engine, the same which was in Contessa Classic.

But no doubt this was and is undoubtedly the most comfortable car on the Indian Roads....Built for the Indian roads!

Goa

So here I am back from the Goa trip. Well this trip was different in many ways, 4 days, 4 people, one car....generally we used to go with a lot of people, as usual we drove to Goa, I personally like the drives. But after reaching there you feel very tired

This time for a change we stayed at Colva Beach (we generally used to stay only on Baga Beach) , the weather was pretty hot but I guess the excitement of being in goa is more , and finally you tend to neglect the heat and the humidity! Reached at around 1:30 pm, took lunch...and then we waited for our friend Rajaram, he is from Goa itself. We spent the first day on Colva beach ...swimming ...and doing nothing. I personally liked the part when After swimming on the beach we sat on a shack on the beach itself and spoke about I don't know what...well just to tell you the we chatted for about 3.5 hrs ....about nothing

Next day Nitin, Praveen and Rajaram planned to go cycling on the beach, and me an Melinda planned to go to Panjim to see the Bessilica of Born Jesus (Church) , took our lunch there only (in panjim), In the evening we went to Rajaram's house, I think that was the most exciting day of our trip, we had dinner there and the food (or rather I should say Goan Food!) was awesome. We again came back to the beach , but this time it was Baga Beach!!
Next day we didn't do much ....went to Palolem beach spent the day there, but the drive to Palolem was too good....the road went through the goan Villages, we even had to take a ferry to cross the backwaters. And then we spent the entire evening at Palolem......in the night we started for Bangalore.
